Today we released the latest version of the Birthday Reminder. Unlike our free versions of the past, this component is built with Visualforce and Apex so the functionality can be installed in almost any edition of Salesforce. Also, as part of this new release, we will be retiring the older versions of this application.

This Birthday Reminder is much more robust than any of the previous versions. It will allow users to personalize the functionality so that the application works best for each individual user. Selections include:

• Ability to display "All Contacts" or only "My Contacts."
• Ability to be alerted from 1 to 99 days in advance of each birthdate.

The AppExchange has been proclaimed by salesforce.com and others as the iTunes approach to business applications and, unlike many of the other applications available on the AppExchange, we want to get closer to that model. Therefore, we've modified the pricing for the Birthday Reminder to more closely match that concept.

In our opinion, AppExchange applications should meet a specific business need, easily integrate into Salesforce, be simple to understand and navigate, and ultimately be priced to make the application appealing to any organization. We think we've met all of these requirements with the Birthday Reminder and we hope that at the very least you will trial the application today.
